Frequently Asked Questions
Does waxing hurt?
Waxing is a form of hair removal that removes hair from the root. So yea, it does kind of hurt. We all have a different pain tolerance so the level of discomfort will vary according to your threshold. However, most women (and tough teens) agree that although it can be uncomfortable, its only minorly painful. If you’re worried about it and want to take the sting out, you can always take an ibuprofen 20 min prior to your appointment.
How long does hair need to be for waxing?
Hairs need to be 1/2 to 1/4 inch long. Comparable to the length of a grain of rice. This typically results from 4 weeks of grow out. Anything shorter than that will result in the hair breaking off at the surface and growing back sooner than it should. Just remember, the longer you grow your hair out, the more lasting your smooth results will be!
How long will my waxing last?
You should plan your appointments to be every 4-6 weeks. Hair growth patterns are cyclical and you will want you hair to be in their final stage of growth for you appointment. This insures your longest lasting results.
What’s the difference between a bikini wax and a Brazilian wax?
In the simplest terms, a standard bikini wax removes any hair you’d see popping out the sides of a moderately cut bathing suit bottom, while a Brazilian takes every bit of hair (front & back) that would be *under a bikini bottom..
Will hair grow back thicker and darker?
This is a big fat myth. Waxing actually slows down the hair growth cycle and in some cases, stops hair growth altogether after years of proper waxing treatments.
Can you wax on your period?
Surprisingly enough, yes! Although you may be more prone to sensitivity and experience more discomfort (and I do recommend you take an ibuprofen 20 min prior to appointment time to lessen the sting) if you pop in a fresh tampon just before your service, we’re good to go.
Is waxing sanitary?
It sure is! Wax, on its own, is antibacterial. It’s a waterless product and water must be present for bacteria to grow. Making sure there is no cross contamination and always using gloves, disposable applicators and disinfecting implements and tools between each client ensure all health and safety protocols.
